Jan Thayer, Board President
Jan Thayer is the President of the Foundation for the Future of Aging. As a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Owner and CEO of Riverside Lodge Retirement Community and of Excel Development Group, Jan’s professional career has been devoted to the support and health care of the elderly.
She grew up on a farm that her grandparents homesteaded when they came to the United States from Sweden in the late 1800s. Jan is a graduate of the University of Nebraska where she has served on many committees and boards. Ms. Thayer has been honored on numerous occasions for her volunteer work on behalf of the college, the state and her community.
Her work in providing housing and care for the elderly of all economic levels has been recognized with awards such as the Outstanding Woman of the Year, the induction into the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame, the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority Housing Partner of the Year and the American Dietetic Association’s Medallion Medal.
Jan has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Health Care Association, the American Health Care Association Board of Directors, and the College Park Board of Directors. She has served as the Chair of the National Center for Assisted Living and is currently a member of that board, as well as the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Nebraska Medical Center and the Institute of Critical Care, located in Rancho Mirage, California.
